More snow

Well we used up our last "snow" day on the school calendar today. I was thrilled that they called it last night and didn't make us wait until this morning. Of course once I got the driveway cleared off - the snow plow came through and piled it up by my driveway - so now I've got to get my stuff back on and clear out the end of the drive again. Why is it that no matter where I live they always pile it at my driveway??? Guess I should look on the bright side ... I didn't have to go to the gym today and still got a workout!

White Out!

You know the old saying about Indiana weather - If you don't like it hold on - it will change in a few minutes?? Well over the weekend it apparently hit the sixties here and yesterday we had a white out of snow! You can't even seen the woods out back! I say it apparently hit the sixties over the weekend because most of us were soooo sick over the weekend that I have no idea what the weather did. While I was at school doing Valentine parties for Sarah and then Emily on Thurs. David came home sick. He couldn't get out of bed until Friday night - and that was only to move to the sofa. Sarah came down with it Thurs. night. Emily got it by Friday morning. Megan ignored it as best she could to make it to school Friday. By Friday night we were all down with it except Kate - who was smart enough to stay out of the house except to change into or out of work clothes all weekend. I spent yesterday disinfecting everything so hopefully we're done with it! Don't you just love when they "guess" the wrong type of flu shots to give everyone for the year??? Hope everyone else it healthy!

I Could Get Used To This

Thanks to the ice & snow we had another 2 hour delay this morning. I could really get used to this! It is amazing how much easier we all get up with that "stolen" sleep time. Doesn't hurt that it is light outside either.

Challenge Accepted!

Ok, so I've accepted Suzanne's challenge to post my senior picture from high school. The best I could do was take a picture from my yearbook and post it. I guess Suzanne's 20th reunion is coming up and it got her thinking. For those of you that don't know - I graduated in 1980 - which means 28 years ago! I had to laugh at myself - no not because of the picture. When I got out the yearbook to find my picture I started looking under the H's. As you can clearly see in the picture - my last name didn't start with an H then! I've been married much longer than I was single! Anybody else out there brave enough to post their senior pictures???

BB King

We had a GREAT time at the B B King concert last Saturday. The girls all thought he was great. The opening act was - how can I say this politely - a 60 year old hippie chick with long white hair down to her waist - that still thought we wanted to hear her views of the world which haven't changed much since the 60's! I thought she looked and sounded like a cross between Grandmother Willow (from Pocahontas) and Yoko Ono. Scary! Good for a laugh, though. There were two other "ladies" that got our attention that night. They were seated (and I do mean seated) in our row. Sarah needed a bathroom break at intermission. Katie followed her out as did I. These two ladies wouldn't get up and let Sarah pass. They had her just wiggle between their knees and the seat in front. Oh, no, don't even bother to try and move your legs to the side - that would make it less challenging! Well then they wouldn't move for Katie either!
I came along behind - not realizing what had happened (making sure Em didn't need to come with us). I politely asked the ladies to let me pass. I got the same story line of squeezing past. I said "thanks for the compliment, but I'm not as thin as my daughters!" They still refused to budge. So I went on through. Needless to say the same thing happened on the way back. I told them that I was concerned I would fall on the people in the next row - and apparently as I got passed them one of these "ladies" muttered - "then you shouldn't get out of your seat". I could understand if we were doing this in the middle of the set - but it was intermission! My lovely daughters exacted a little revenge. Katie stepped on their feet and Sarah made sure to pass them with her backside facing them. Good lesson learned on concert etiquette!
The trip to see Dad & Gabi was postponed due to ice on Friday. The kids had the day off from school. So in the afternoon we all had a tea party to celebrate.
Gabi went in on Monday to get a double round of chemo - but her blood count was bad again. So she had to have a transfusion. They were only able to do a single dose of chemo this week. She was having trouble breathing so they took xrays. She was feeling much better when I talked to her today. Sounded like she had much more energy since Monday. They haven't gotten the results on the xrays - so she is assuming that it wasn't anything serious. Let's hope!
Time for Mom's taxi to start the afternoon runs! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Here's what is new

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Just the regular stuff going on around here. Last week I had a chance to be at Suzanne's house while the inspection went on. That was fun! (No, seriously!) Tim had this funny list of stuff he wanted to be sure got checked out. He's an engineer ~ enough said?? Thanks for trusting me guys! :) The house was in GREAT shape! It was rebuilt in 1988 after a fire - and done very well! The place was cleaner than my house (that I've only been in for 2 1/2 years). I'm telling you I went everywhere (except the roof) with the inspector (it was soooo cold that even he just took a look at the roof from the ladder) and we only found one cobweb. You could have eaten off of the inside of the furnace! No cobwebs in the crawl space. No cobwebs in the attic. I wonder if that lady is for hire??? I probably couldn't afford her! I'm sure she'd run screaming from my house in fear!! (Thank you Kelly and Laura for never running away when I needed help cleaning the basement of the old house!) Anyway the house flew past inspection. I love the house by the way. The bedrooms are huge! The yard is very large with mature trees. I'm really excited for Suzanne to get to see it when she makes yet another trip back to the States in March.

So tonight they are predicting a big snow/ice storm for us. They get it wrong so often - that normally I wouldn't even think about it. But tomorrow morning Susie & I are supposed to go up and see Dad & Gabi. She's been having trouble tolerating the chemo so we haven't been up since Dec. But she was actually feeling well enough earlier this week to get out of the house for a little bit. Yeah! So of course this weather will actually hit and mess up the plans.
It is so funny how people react when a storm is predicted. The grocery gets packed! I usually go on Thursday or Friday anyway - so I went ahead and did it today. Really the only thing I did in preparation for this possible "storm" was get books from the library. It can snow ten feet as long as I have books! Oh - and toilet paper.
We've got tickets for all six of us to see B B King Saturday. Can't wait! David & I have seen him before and it was a GREAT show. I know the girls will really enjoy it.
Time to go snuggle up with a good book and a cup of tea. (David's on a business trip out of state in case you were wondering why I wasn't snuggling up to him!)
